1. Heart of the Valley Show 2007
The HOTV show 2007 was a great success, especially gien the rocky start. Due to a computer glitch, participants had to wait for class lists on the first day, but since there were only alpaca people around, everyone was cheerful about it. WE still finished on time on Sunday.
There were hundreds of farms represented with over 400 animals at the show. The new May date was so successful, we're going to do it at the same time next year. Don't miss it in 2008!

2.Willamette Valley Alpaca Fiber Show
The second annual WVAFS was held in conjunction with the Scio lamb and wool fair, an annual event that includes sheepdog trials and fiber arts competitions. This is the second year we've been an AOBA sanctioned show, so we are still small. However, Judge Nard was impressed by the quality of the fleeces at the show. She also enjoyed talking to people who dropped by to watch her judge. The show was held the week after the HOTV show, so many participants chose to have their fleeces in both shows, especially since WABA moved the fleeces between shows for free. Don't miss this event in 2008!

3. WABA Panels are for rent!
If you attended the HOTV 2007 show, you saw our lovely new alpaca panels! WABA members spent months designing these panels and the May show was the first time they were used.
These panels are for rent by groups or individuals. They feature tube construction and low "feet" so that little ones can't crawl underneath to escape. They are lightweight and can be easily be assembled into any configuration using zip ties. They come in 8-foot and 10-foot lengths.

4. National Alpaca Farm Day
NAFD is coming September 29 & 30, 2007. This is an event organized by AOBA designed to get the public to visit local alpaca farms. Participating WABA farms will have demonstrations of spinning and farming, opportunities to interact with alpacas, and see, feel and buy alpaca fleeces, yarns, and other products. This event is great for families and kids' groups, as well as anyone interested in learning more about alpacas.

5. Next WABA Meeting
The next WABA meeting is August 9, 2007, in the Ray's Supermarket meeting room on Hickory Street in North Albany, Oregon. Anyone is welcome!
That's all for July!
